Course Description

This course explores the challenges and opportunities related to empowering women in rural and marginalized communities, with a focus on Sustainable Development Goal 5 (Gender Equality). Students will examine key barriers that women face in education, healthcare, and economic participation, particularly in underprivileged and remote areas. Through case studies, policy analysis, and practical examples from different global regions, the course emphasizes the interconnectedness of education, health, and economic independence in fostering women’s empowerment.

Participants will gain an understanding of gender-based inequalities in rural settings and develop strategies for empowering women by leveraging education, improving healthcare access, and enhancing economic opportunities. Special attention will be paid to cultural, social, and financial constraints, as well as how international organizations, local governments, and grassroots initiatives can collaborate to drive sustainable change.

By the end of the course, students will be equipped with practical skills to design empowerment programs, influence policy, and advocate for gender equality in marginalized communities.
