Course Requirements

To successfully complete this course, students are expected to meet the following requirements:

  1. Asynchronous attendance: Students must attend the class by watching all the videos uploaded for at least 60 seconds. As it is assynchronous, you can access the videos at your own convenient.
  2. Active Participation: Students must actively engage in class discussions, particularly in sensitive topics related to sexual violence and university policies.
  3. Quiz: Students must do the quiz consisting 30 questions related to the topics in 20 minutes. The questions range from easy to difficult to assess the students' understanding about the topic. To pass this course, the minimum score of the quiz must be 75 out of 100.
  4. Assignment: Students must complete a paper assignments, including analysis of case studies or article related to sexual violence on campuses.

Course Description

This course explores the role of university academic community in preventing and addressing sexual violence on campus by creating safe spaces for education and dialogue. It covers the legal frameworks surrounding sexual violence, including both national laws and international conventions, as well as best practices in prevention, education, and response. The course emphasizes the collective responsibility of educators, students, and university staff to foster a culture of respect, support survivors, and combat stigma. By the end of the course, students will be equipped with practical strategies to advocate for, implement, and continuously improve sexual violence prevention programs within higher education settings.

Course Outcomes

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Identify Key Legal Frameworks: Understand and analyze the relevant national and international legal frameworks addressing sexual violence in higher education, including the Indonesian Law on Sexual Violence (UU TPKS) and international conventions like CEDAW and the Istanbul Convention.
  2. Evaluate University Policies: Assess existing university policies on sexual violence, identify gaps, and propose improvements to better protect students and staff.
  3. Implement Best Practices in Sexual Violence Prevention: Demonstrate an understanding of best practices from universities that have successfully implemented sexual violence prevention programs and apply these strategies to their own context.
  4. Promote Safe Educational Spaces: Develop strategies to create safe and supportive educational spaces where discussions of sexual violence are normalized and stigmas are addressed.
  5. Collaborate Effectively: Work with peers, students, and university staff to develop comprehensive, community-based approaches to preventing and responding to sexual violence on campus.
  6. Design Awareness Campaigns: Create awareness-raising campaigns or educational programs tailored to university settings that encourage open communication, support survivors, and foster a culture of respect.
